Scott Kemsley is the Principal Flutist of the New York City Ballet Orchestra. He has also performed with ensembles such as Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Florida Grand Opera, Palm Beach Symphony, Orchestra Miami, and the New World Symphony. Equally versed as a soloist, Scott has been a prizewinner at several international and regional competitions. Originally from North Carolina, he was the first prize winner of the North Carolina Symphony’s Kathleen Price and Joseph M. Bryan Young Artist Competition, which resulted in a concerto performance with the orchestra. Scott was also a first prize winner of the 2011 Alexander and Buono International Flute Competition.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School, where he received a full-tuition scholarship and studied with Jeffrey Khaner. He was a student at the North Carolina School of the Arts for high school and studied with Tadeu Coelho and Mary Boone.
