Sara Cutler, Principal Harp of the American Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of St Luke’s and the New York City Ballet Orchestra, has performed as concerto soloist at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. In 2012, she gave the world premiere of Michael Torke’s concerto, Wild Grass, written for her and commissioned by the American Harp Society. She has appeared in recital in Tokyo, Tel Aviv, London, Paris, and New York. In concert, she has performed with a diverse group of artists ranging from the American String Quartet to the heavy-metal band Metallica to jazz guitarist Pat Metheny. Her recordings include Dancing Day with the boys choir of St. Thomas Church, NY, the Dohnányi Concertino for Harp (with the American Symphony), an all-Debussy CD with flutist Linda Chesis, a Christmas CD with Jessye Norman, and recent releases from Paul Simon and Bjork. Spring 2021 has seen the release of her recording of Jose Serebrier’s Harp Concerto: Colores Magicos. She is on the faculty of the Bard College Conservatory of Music and is a board editor of and frequent contributor to the American Harp Journal.
