Dan Peck, Principal Tuba

Dan Peck is currently Principal Tubist of the New York City Ballet Orchestra. He previously held the tuba/bass chair at Chicago the Musical on Broadway for seven years. In addition to classical music, Dan also performs in contemporary and improvised contexts, playing at jazz festivals in the U.S. and abroad. Dan’s independent record label, Tubapede Records, releases music from his own projects as well as from other close collaborators. Of his long-standing trio The Gate, with double-bassist Tom Blancarte and drummer Brian Osborne, Peter Margasak of the Chicago Reader says: “[The Gate] plays roiling sludge that makes Black Sabbath sound lithe and springy – it seethes, grinds, and throbs at the bottom end of the sonic spectrum.”
