         Born in Italy, Alessandro Benetello graduated from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, where he studied cello and composition, and continued his studies with Antonio Janigro at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He was a tenured member of La Scala and the R.A.I. orchestras in Milan and recorded and toured with chamber music groups throughout Italy.   In the U.S., he is a member of the NYC Ballet Orchestra and has performed with numerous chamber music groups and orchestras, including NYC Opera, Radio City Music Hall, NY Grand Opera, NJ State Opera and Brooklyn Philharmonic. 

         He was one of the founders of the bilingual Italian school, La Scuola d'Italia, in New York City, where he was a faculty member and chairman of the music department for thirty years,

         In his private studio, he teaches cello as well as elementary and intermediate piano. Many of his students have been accepted by schools with special music programs, including La Guardia High School of Music and Art.

         He is also the founder, artistic director and editor of the publishing house, Organized Chaos Music Editions, specialized in cello ensembles, Baroque vocal music, and chamber ensembles with unusual combinations of instruments, all taken from original manuscripts and prints, unavailable in modern editions.
